Important Fingerprint Update: Gemalto buys Cogent

Cogent (Georgia’s vendor for fingerprint background checks) was bought out by a company called Gemalto. Gemalto is an international digital security company providing software applications, secure personal devices such as smart cards and tokens, and managed services. It is the world’s largest manufacturer of SIM cards.

In the last two weeks, Gemalto, without warning launched a new web link to register employees to obtain fingerprint background checks. The old link no longer works, and unfortunately, Gemalto didn’t include the new link on the old page or forward customers from the old link to the new one. We have reported this to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) who oversees Gemalto’s contract, and we have also raised the issue with DECAL.
